課程概述

生命倫理學(或生命醫療倫理學)是一門重要的課題因其是有關生與死的議題. 據觀察, 在現代社會強調「生命是神聖」的主流思想下, 生命倫理學的意義尤其顯得非凡. 所以其重要性是不可被忽視的.

這課程的目的是使學生明瞭何謂生命倫理學及其主要的議題為何. 我們首先介紹生命倫理的歷史, 意義, 重要性及課題. 接著我們檢視主要的生命倫理學理論. 再來, 探討其主要的領域, 如生殖技術, 生育控制, 基因科技, 器官移植, 人體實驗, 臨終及安樂死等的倫理議題. 最後, 我們討論一些可能發生在實際生活上的例子.

Bioethics (or biomedical ethics) is important since it is about life and death. As observed, bioethics has become more significant in the modern world in which the principle “Life is sacred” plays a crucial consideration in our decision. Hence, its importance cannot be ignored.

This course is to make students understand what bioethics is and what its current issues are. We firstly explore bioethics through introducing its history, meaning, importance, and subject matter. Secondly we investigate some main ethical theories for bioethics. Thirdly, we examine several cardinal areas of bioethics such as reproduction technology, birth control, genetic engineering, organ transplantation, human experiment, terminal care, and euthanasia. Finally, we also discuss some possible cases in life.
