The body and mind are inherently united; apart from language, we understand ourselves and the world, as well as communicate with the world, through sound, body, movement, and various sensory methods. Through the creative processes of music, dance, and expressive arts, one can promote integration on personal, mental, and social levels; by transforming, constructing, and reconstructing experiences and memories, one explores the relationship between the individual and the self, group society, and culture, to promote integration on these three levels, thereby achieving the purpose of personal change. In addition to introducing the relevant theoretical background and different schools of thought, this course also leads students to experience practically; besides experiencing how to use art as a medium with both non-verbal and verbal communication, it also sparks interactions between learned theories and practical experiences. |
